Three whole sessions, start to finish

Most photographers show you their ten best frames and call it a portfolio. This page does something braver. It shows three complete senior sessions, nearly every keeper, in the order each one unfolded.

One follows a quiet senior through golden hour on the Fort Worth riverside. The second tracks a red letter jacket through old storefronts, rail platforms, and murals closer to home. The third runs from painted walls in downtown Carrollton to an empty school gym. Different guys, different moods, same camera and the same patient light.

Notice how many different photographs one evening can hold. That range is the whole point, and your session gets the same treatment. When you are ready, book your own.

Session One · Fort Worth

An evening on the river

One senior, one evening, four different moods. It started with gold light on the water and ended under strings of electric color.

01

Down by the water

Black tee, maroon tee, and the last warm hour of the day.

02

Stone, steps, and shade

Limestone walls, long shadows, and a cream jacket that earned its keep.

The orange arch

That steel arch shows up in a dozen frames because it kept earning the spot. Stand under it and the curve frames the whole sky. Step back and it draws one clean line over the water. As the sun dropped, the steel went from orange to nearly red, and the pale walkway bounced warm light back up into every face.

Nobody built that bridge for senior photos. It just behaves like they did. That is the whole trick of an urban session. The city keeps handing you sets, and I know which ones photograph better than they look.

Around the arch and the footbridge

Steel, sky, and a sunset that would not quit.

After dark

Sunset did not end the session. First came the patio strings above the walkway, warm and low. Then the neon trees switched on, and the last frames of the night used nothing else. Headphones on, blue and red glow everywhere, a completely different photograph twenty minutes after golden hour.

If you want night frames like these, say so on the form. I plan the whole route backward from the light, and the dark end of the evening is worth staying for. Most people quit at sunset. The best frames of this session did not.

Same camera. Same light. A completely different senior.

Session Two · Dallas Suburbs

Letter jacket, home turf

This one stayed close to home. Old brick, a rail platform, a playground, and one very red letter jacket.

04

Old downtown

Gingham and glass on the old square.

One very red letter jacket

Three outfits carried this session. A blue gingham shirt for the storefront glass. A plain white tee for the murals. And over everything else, the red letter jacket with the C on the chest and patches stitched down the sleeves.

A letter jacket might be the single best thing you can bring to a senior session. It holds four years of story in one garment, it photographs loud, and it will never fit this moment again. Bring yours, and bring the pins and patches too. Never lettered? A denim jacket or a team hoodie does the same work.

05

Chain link and rail lines

Fence corridors, a brick arch, and rails that run straight to the horizon.

The train pulled in mid shoot

The rail platform made the plan for its clean lines and canopy shade. Then a train rolled in, yellow stripe and all, and the session got a moving backdrop nobody could have scheduled. He stepped into the doorway for one frame before it left.

Plans matter, and I make careful ones. But half of an urban session is staying loose enough to grab the gift when the city hands you one. A parked train would have been fine. A moving one was better. Every session leaves room for one surprise like this.

Murals and a playground

Senior at the elementary school sign

Back at the elementary school

Near the end, the session swung past a neighborhood elementary school with a painted welcome window. He sat on the steps under it, letter jacket on, one school year from done with all of it.

It is a quiet frame compared to the trains and the murals, and it will outlast most of them. In ten years this is the photograph his family goes looking for, the one that holds both ends of growing up at once. Every session should include one stop like this. It costs nothing but a short drive. Tell me yours.

The best sessions go where the person actually spends their time.

This one ran from downtown Carrollton to a school gym after hours. Same senior, two worlds, one afternoon.
